The Africa Regional Representative of the Commonwealth Students’ Association (CSA), Mr. Ibrahim Abdullahi, paid a courtesy visit to Nigeria’s Honourable Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh to explore avenues for strategic collaboration aimed at advancing students’ and youth development across the country.
The high-level engagement underscored a shared vision between the Commonwealth Students’ Association and the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology to foster inclusive growth through innovation-driven initiatives. Central to the discussions was the prospect of establishing a formal partnership that would leverage the Ministry’s institutional capacity and policy framework alongside the CSA’s expansive student network to create sustainable pathways for young people.
Deliberations focused on the development of innovation platforms, research and technology incubation opportunities, digital skills programmes, and youth-centered initiatives designed to equip students with the competencies required to thrive in an increasingly knowledge-based and technology-driven global economy. Both parties emphasized the importance of aligning national innovation priorities with student-led initiatives to ensure that young people are not only beneficiaries of policy but active contributors to Nigeria’s scientific and technological advancement.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmed commitment to collaborative action, with both leaders expressing optimism about forging a strategic partnership that will expand opportunities, strengthen innovation ecosystems, and empower students and young people across Nigeria to become drivers of sustainable national development.
